~ An apple a day keeps you pocket-dismay

Asalam alaikum,

Q. What’s the difference between a mechanical engineer and a civil engineer?

A. Mechanical engineers build weapons. Civil engineers build targets.

And a quote one runs across in the book Operating Systems;

When an engineer builds a building, it’s very well built, but it’s so ugly that the people tear it down; when an architect builds a building, it’s very beautiful, but it falls down!

back then i heard; 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away..'
but then, since my consort ain't a dentist, i think im pretty contended with the variation in this familiar theme;
'an apple a day keeps the dentist away'
:)

so, here's my bit about the new purchase i made - thankx to mani for helping me out in placing the order online for much less infact.

its slick, its slim, its..its a supermaaan.. NOT.
:p
its air.
& its neat.

doesn't come handy though..
a bit overpriced, i dare say.. (got it much cheaper nonetheless :p)
but considering the world's slimiest AND a duo core, i thnk its worth it.

wasn't a knee jerk investment, neither a coincidence.
it was well planned & after much shuffling & reshuffling of choices, we finally landed on this piece of art err..air.

for some it dares to buck_the_trend, setting a new standard for mobile computing.
and others are annoyed & negatively reviewing, disgruntled that..

..that its an all american way to bilk the people who have more credit than sense.

well.. for one, this notebook (& not merely a netbook) ain't for everyone.
other than financing the american empire, its a lightweight fairly speedy slim-book with emphasis on 'lightweight' & 'slimbook'.. if its not that difficult to grasp the meaning.

its for those who're tired of carrying a heavy laptop around.
as for those who've *never* traveled for an extended period with a laptop – you just don’t know or you don't care.
Holding it in a store for a minute is *not* the same thing as schlepping a 5 lb or 7 lb laptop from room to room and then around a giant building at your work place – that’s when you wonder; how much weight are those extra memory slots or how many peripherals do I need to plug into this thing at once?

At the store, holding it for a minute, you simply can’t justify spending hundreds extra, but try running down a mile-long airport terminal or carrying a bag full of printed collateral and then ask yourself if 2 lbs, 4 lbs extra is worth the difference?

Until you’re at that point, you simply don’t need an Air or any other ultraportable stuff for that matter.

it's all about utility really.

Cosmetically its a crisp with backlit keys, & a shiny back logo
oh n its color customizable, but im pretty cool with the default one.

With a 2.13GHz & an Intel Core 2 Duo processor having 1066MHz frontside bus, a RAM of 2GB & a 128GB solid-state drive (an accessory of a USB Superdrive), the integration of NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics, a nifty 13" LED screen & a mere 3 lbs (1.36 kg) weight.. its not going to be Adam's apple anytime sooner. (inshAllah)

am not sure how the experience with unix based os turns out to be in the long run.. but given all the high hype around it, taking risks is what im supposed to do in professional life, now aint I?

here is bunch of cool predictions a jigz of mine sent my way .. lol
